WEAR LIFE EATS

WEAR //
Since my spontaneous COS haul last weekend, I have been loving wearing the bits I picked up. I find the clothes at COS to be such amazing quality for a much more affordable price compared to it's competitors. The simple, clean cut styles are flattering, timeless, comfortable and easy to wear. I picked up this jumper and skirt/dress combo and it's so unique. I really love wearing it, despite looking like a librarian.

LIFE //
Today is mine and Rich's 7 year anniversary! How mental is that?! We met the first day of Uni but made it 'official' in November. With the first 3 years being in a Uni bubble, 7 years have completely flown by. We're having a fun day out today then heading to Brighton tonight! 7 years whoop!

EATS //
Uh oh... the winter flu is back. It's attacking my family members one by one and is terrifying me! I've spent most of this week making batches of chicken soup as it really is the only thing that helps! If you need it, I posted my mum's homemade chicken soup recipe here and it's the best! Try it.

Have a great weekend and come back tomorrow for my Sunday video!

GOLD DOT DETAIL

I wanted to my nails a bit special for the EMA Awards last weekend. I the end I went for an old favourite of navy and gold - a classic colour pairing for the party season!

I started by using Essie 'Boy Blazer' as the base and then the dots were simple, much easier than they look! I used Essie 'Beyond Crazy' and dabbed a small blob onto a magazine, then used a nail dotter to create alternate dots on the nail. Simple!

Make sure you wait for the dots to dry before applying a top coat and then you're done. I love the final look and it always gets lots of compliments! Party season nails sorted.

The Non-Beauty Chat

Just to mix things up a bit we've done the "non-beauty chat" this month. So we took to Twitter and asked you to tweet us non-beauty questions - anything at all!

So I hope you enjoy watching this month. There's singing, there's a quick fire round and of course, there's lot of laughing!

COVENT GARDEN'S BEAUTY BOUTIQUES

Usually when you're on the hunt for the high end beauty brands you have to head to the big department stores and weave through the many counters to find what you want. But something's going on in Covent Garden and it's seemed to sneak up on all of us. It started with the Chanel store launching last year and one by one the brands have followed...

On a recent visit to the Covent Garden piazza I spotted Chanel, Burberry, Dior, Clinique and Bobbi Brown. And I'm not talking counters, I'm talking full on (sometimes two floor) boutiques. Each one more beautiful than the last and with top quality staff who know their stuff. The Covent Garden piazza is quickly turning into a beauty haven.

The Chanel, Dior and Burberry stores all sit next door to each other and I'd highly recommend exploring upstairs in the Burberry boutique! The two newest stores are Bobbi Brown and Clinique, sitting right next to each other on the east side of the piazza. The Clinique Great Skin Lab is the first ever Clinique concept store and it's really impressive. Clean, sharp and when you walk in it's like you're walking into your own personalised skincare lab. The Bobbi Brown store is not the first in London but it is their new flagship store right in the centre of London. They have their top makeup artists actually based in store and available for makeup consultations. It's a beautiful atmosphere inside and really easy to navigate around.

So next time you find yourself in London, save up your pennies and head to Covent Garden for some serious beauty shopping. For me, it's all about the experience and these stores will make you feel really special!

GREASY HAIR THAT WON'T DE-GREASE

0

Do you ever find that you wash your hair, let it dry, straighten it and then feel like none of it was worth the hassle because your hair still feels greasy?

Well I've been having that a lot recently and it's been driving me crazy! It takes a long time to wash and dry my hair, so when I do, I want it to last at least 4 or 5 days without needing to be washed again. Well after a bit of experimenting and a lot of help from my friendly Twitter followers, I think I've come up with a few solutions for greasy hair that won't de-grease!

Clean 'em up //
This is something I think most of us often forget to do but it really helps. Think about how often you use your straighteners and especially on 'last day hair'. Now think about what must be lingering on those iron plates... gross right? I find giving them a wipe down (when they're turned off) with a wipe, followed by a dry tissue really helps remove any grime. I'm now being quite strict and doing this regularly as it really makes a difference. I also find cleaning my brush has helped too!

Clarify  //
As a girl with very dry hair I'm always a bit worried about clarifying shampoos and anything that might strip my hair too much. If you have normal hair, then go for it! The Bumble & Bumble Sunday shampoo comes highly recommended but if, like me, you have dry hair then I'd recommend the Ojon Cleansing Conditioner. It's more gentle but gives a similar cleanse to the hair.

Switch it up //
Someone tweeted me saying that my hair may be too used to my shampoo and conditioner and although it sounds bizarre, it kind of makes sense too! So I switched up my shampoo and conditioner for something new and it worked! I also think that the shampoo and conditioner I was using was a little too moisturising at the time.

Hold back //
With so many products to try and a serious love for the salon scent, I often find myself spritzing multiple products onto my wet hair before drying it. I think I sometimes go a bit too far with the styling products. I found holding back a bit and using just a heat protector on the ends gave my hair a break from the heavy products.

My hair feels back to normal now, so whilst my skin goes through the winter woes, at least I know my hair isn't greasy! And well the skin? That's my next battle...

NARS GET IT RIGHT AGAIN

NARS always seem to get it right when it comes to their palettes and their Christmas Space NK exclusive is no exception. The Virtual Domination Cheek Palette is £45 and can only be found in store and online at Space NK. I ran out to buy mine - I couldn't resist!

Inside the white snowflake covered (hard-cased) palette is Miss Liberty highlighter, Sex Fantasy and Final Cut blush (which are both limited edition shades) and sat beside them is my all-time favourite blush, Deep Throat. There's also a double sized Laguna bronzer, which is the more wearable shade from NARS' bronzer offerings.

It's a deliciously wonderful palette that would make the perfect gift for a friend, or in my case, for yourself. NARS get it right... yet again!

This week Rich and I celebrated our 7 year anniversary! What was meant to be a fun day out in London turned into an anniversary weekend in Brighton and you'll see why in the vlog... I had such a nice time!

I also posted my Misstache selfie this week! Aussie are the first ever female sponsors of Movember and are encouraging us girls to post a Misstache Selfie on our social media platforms with the hashtags #Misstache for #Movember to show our support for the Mo Bros. It's a really great way to finally get us girls involved in Movember and I speak about it more in this vlog. Check out Aussie's Facebook page for more details.

DARE TO GO DARK

Experimenting with dark lips has been my thang recently and I'm loving it! It started with a pre-makeup removal play around and after plucking up a bit of courage I wore it out and about on the weekend. I'm now completely obsessed...

For something a bit glamorous I've been mixing Tom Ford's Black Dahlia and Crimson Noir. Black Dahlia is one of their matte shades and as striking as it is alone, I'm not that brave yet. I like to mix a bit of Crimson Noir which is a dark rouge pink that makes it slightly more wearable.

During the day the one I tend to go for is Charlotte Tilbury's matte revolution lipstick in Love Liberty. It's described by Charlotte as a rose but on me it's a deep berry and I love it. There's something sophisticated about it and the formula is seriously long lasting. I'm wearing it at the beginning of this video if you want to see it in action!

So I'm welcoming dark lips back into my life with open arms, but would you dare to go dark?

Check my YouTube channel tonight at 6.30pm UK time for a dark lip makeup tutorial!

DARK LIP MAKEUP TUTORIAL

Last night I uploaded a video that has been highly requested during the past couple of weeks. I've been wearing a dark lip a lot recently and I love the instant glam effect it gives. Paired with a simple eye I think it can work both during the day and in the evening for a party.

Watch the video to find out how I like to create the look and let me know what you think!

WEAR //
As I'm sure you've seen from my Tweets and Instagram photos, I spent two days in Stockholm this week. We were there to celebrate REN's 15th Anniversary (more on that in a minute) and our little UK group was hosted by ASOS. More well known for the fashion side of things I think people forget about ASOS' beauty section that offers products like REN as well as many others. Ahead of the trip I planned for cold weather and this high neck swing dress really kept me cosy. I layered it over leggings, added some boots and threw my coat on top. I really like the fit, the tight three quarter length arms are very flattering.

LIFE //
So REN is 15 years old! The event was hosted in Stockholm not because it's where their from (I just assumed it was!) but because the clean brand ethos really ties in with the Swedish way. Did you know that REN actually means 'clean' in Swedish? Amazing. As well as celebrating their birthday they also have a new product launching next year that I personally think might get added to their bestseller list. It's their Instant Firming Beauty Shot which is like a thick serum that instantly tightens the skin leaving it soft and plump. I can't wait to try it out properly but at the moment the back of my left hand is looking great!

EATS //
You may have seen in my last vlog that Rich and I went to a restaurant called Food For Friends in Brighton last weekend. I've been there before around 8 years ago for my sister's hen night. It's a vegetarian restaurant and even though neither of us are vegetarian we still really enjoyed it. Despite my chilli incident, the food was great and the atmosphere was nice. I wouldn't say it was the BEST meal I've had but if you're looking for somewhere nice to go for dinner in Brighton, it would be up there on my list of places I've tried and enjoyed.

Have a great weekend!

SNOWFLAKE NAILS

Nails Inc's Kensington Church Street Snowflake polish is a new addition to their special effects topcoat selection.

Apparently inspired by the cool, crisp looks at the Chanel, Celine and Alexander Wang shows, this polish can be worn a few different ways. For a really snowy effect, layer it over a dark polish like I have done. For something more subtle, use it over a lighter shade like a mint blue. It can also be worn alone but for this you'll need around three coats.

The different sized glitter and sequin particles are what makes this polish look so pretty on the nails and for those who are less confident with nail art, this is perfect and so easy!

Nails Inc have also changed their packaging and I really like it. The heavy weight lid that when removed reveals a small lid inside, feels really good quality and now matches their slightly higher prices. This polish also comes in it's own box case, so it would make a nice gift!

CHRISTMAS BEAUTY WISH LIST (GIFT GUIDE)

When you're a kid it seems like there's 10 years between every Christmas but time seriously flies these days and I can't believe it's only a month away!

For this year's gift guide I wanted to make it more of a 'wish list' as I know that's what most of you watch it for. I spent a while collecting all the products I wanted to recommend with quite a few of my own thrown in there too! It ranges from £6 all the way up to £150 so there should be something for every budget.

I hope you find some good bits to add to your list! Now I'm officially counting down the days 'till Christmas...

Private Blends & Signature Scents

I've walked past the Selfridges Tom Ford fragrance counter so many times before. It's slightly intimidating and the amount of fragrances on display is also quite overwhelming. I didn't know that you can actually book an appointment to have the full Tom Ford experience though and once I found out Anna and I booked in straight away. It's free for anyone to have, you just ask at the counter or phone up!

Sasha, the lady who helped us, was really friendly and seriously knows her stuff. She started by talking through the different fragrances they have. The Private Blend fragrances are the small bottles all lined up and are artisanal blend fragrances. The Signature Fragrances are more widely available and are slightly more affordable (although still Tom Ford prices!). Some of the bottle designs differ from the original black and gold as they were released in limited edition collections in the past and made permanent due to their popularity.

We went through each fragrance one by one talking through the notes and figuring out which scents we prefer and which we dislike. Once Sasha could identify the notes we prefer, it was easy for her to pick our fragrances that she thought we would like. There were coffee beans available to clear our noses as it can get a bit muddled when you're smelling so many different scents.

Once we'd picked a few favourites Sasha was able to put a decent amount of fragrance into small glass vials with name labels. It's very rare that you're actually able to sample fragrances like this and it's so nice to be able to try it yourself at home and make a decision. Fragrances smell so different on the skin, so it's impotent to see how it sits and develops throughout the day.

A lot of their fragrances are quite heavy and intense but there are a few softer, lighter ones in there too! Their most popular scent for women is Black Orchid and their most popular for men are Noir EDP, Grey Vetiver and Tom Ford for men. My favourites were White Suede, Cafe Rose and Velvet Orchid. In the end I chose White Suede, it's fresh, light and has that nice clean scent to it.

It was a great experience and I'd really recommend it if you were thinking of updating your fragrance wardrobe!

SPACE NK STOCKING FILLERS

We're not really BIG Christmas present people in my family... I know that sounds weird. We were when we were kids, but now we've all grown up we prefer to just enjoy the day, eat and have a few nice treats along the way.

I've always loved the idea of a stocking though. I think small gifts all wrapped up are so much fun to open and somehow feel more special.

I've grouped together a selection of stocking fillers from Space NK to give you some ideas for your mum, sister, friend or daughter's stocking. I was recently in store and noticed the carousel by the till filled with cute little minis which we don't usually get much of in the UK. Whether you just get one or lots, these are my favourite picks from the Space NK stocking fillers...

NEOM CHRISTMAS CANDLES

Neom is still one of my favourite brands for candles. They burn clean, last a long time and always smell incredible. There's nothing sweet or sickly about them, just natural and fresh.

They've released two limited edition candles this Christmas and for every candle sold Neom will donate £1 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. There are two options for each candle, one with 3 wicks (£45) and the other with just 1 (£32). I actually really like the single wick candles, they're a great size.

Christmas Wish is a mandarin, cinnamon and tonka bean scented candle so it's a traditional scent and for those who like the smell of spice. Perfect Peace is pine, myrrh and lime peel scented and is a fresh take on the Christmas scent. This one is quite green and the pine makes it smell like a freshly cut Christmas tree.

Both candles fill the room with a warm, comforting scent. I think these make great gifts and the limited edition packaging is really pretty!

So do these limited edition scents sound like your kinda thing?

Last week was crazy! I started off the week in Stockholm and ended it with Rich surprising him on his birthday. We had such a lovely day together and I hope you enjoy watching the vlog!

LOUNGEWEAR LOVING

At this time of year I spend most my days browsing The White Company both online and in-store  drooling over the loungewear. I already have a beautiful pair of cashmere bed socks and there are many loungewear pieces on my birthday wish list. It's without a doubt the best place to look for good quality, gorgeous pieces to lounge around the house in.

I recently made a much more affordable discovery though and I thought you'd appreciate the heads up. These pyjamas from NEXT are incredible! I have them in blue and my sister is getting me the grey set for my birthday (and some for herself!). It's a long sleeved top and trouser set with cute white stars all over. They're soft, cosy and breathable enough to wear at night! I got the large, but they are pretty big so I'm opting for a medium in the grey.

This is probably my most random blog post yet but you know when you find a really good set of pyjamas and you just want to tell everyone that they need them?? Well that's how I feel. You need them!

SMACK LOBSTER

There's a new lobster shack in town and I think this one will convert even the non-lobster-lovers like me...

Smack Lobster is the more relaxed, easy going younger sister of the popular Burger & Lobster restaurant. The central and easy to find location right opposite Selfridges makes it a great place to pop in for lunch.

When you walk in you're greeted by a giant wall menu that is super simple and fuss free. There are four different lobster rolls to pick from, all served in the most perfect brioche blanket. The Mexican is the spicy one, Happy Ending is the quirky one, California is the most popular and Seven Samurai is Japanese themed and the one that I chose! On the side you can have Lobster Chowder or Courgette Fries and there are a range of soft drinks to choose and refill, there's even an all natural cola option. If you're not feeling the lobster rolls there is also the Chick Lobster, which is their way of serving lobster (cold with lemon mayo).

After ordering at the till, filling up our drinks and waiting for our food we took a seat downstairs at the bar-like tables. The setting inside is kind of strange, but I liked that it was different. The tables are the right height to stand at (if you wanted to) but there are plenty of seats to pull up. The whole atmosphere is very relaxing and calm.

At this sort of place I feel like it's all about the food and luckily in this case it is top quality. I usually prefer crab over lobster, but there was no fishy lobster in sight here. The food was fresh, delicious and those courgette fries are perfection. I'd definitely recommend visiting even if you don't usually like lobster and even if you weren't a huge fan of Burger & Lobster (I wasn't either!). Personally, I can't wait to go back for another visit!

GET READY WITH ME: WINTER PARTY

On Monday night we all got together to celebrate Zoe's new book Girl Online. I love how supportive the YouTube/Blogging community can be and it's always a pleasure to all get together to celebrate each other's success.

I filmed myself getting ready and because I still wasn't feeling 100% I went for the cosy look. I'm still loving this ASOS dress and it goes perfectly with my new boots. All the products used and mentioned are linked below the video. I hope you like it!

This week I visited the Jo Malone head office to discover their new Rock The Ages launch. The whole place was decorated head to toe like some kind of posh English members club - it was amazing! The collection includes five 30ml perfumes capturing the atmosphere of some of Britain's most defining eras. The scents include Tudor Rose & Amber, Lily of the Valley & Ivy, Pomegranate Noir, Geranium & Verbena and Birch & Black Pepper. I'll talk more about the collection nearer the release date which is March next year, but so far I know my favourite scent is Geranium & Verbena.

Who's ready for Vlogmas? This is my first year doing it and for those who don't know what Vlogmas is, it's vlogging every single day until December 24th. I'm going to be uploading my vlogs every day at 6.30pm and will still have 'main' videos going up at 9.30am on Sundays. If I have any extra mid-week videos I'll probably put them up on a Wednesday morning. I've got lots of fun things planned in December so I'm excited to take you guys along with me. It's going to tough, but I'm up for the challenge! I'll be posting all the vlogs from the week every Monday. See you Tuesday night for my first Vlogmas vlog!

EATS //
This week I've being trying out a juice cleanse. Now I haven't done it the proper way because let's face it, I can't not eat. These juices are from a brand called Press so unlike the juices I make at home, these are made with a cold press machine. It's a much healthier way of juicing as it retains all the nutrients and it's great for detoxing the body, which is what I need after just being ill. The flavours are strong though and the green juices? Well, they're for the heavy weights. Rich loved them. I spotted some of these juices in Selfridges last week but if you want to know more, check out their website here
