WEAR LIFE EATS 21.02.15

This week was part two of our Beauty Chat LIVE tour and I can't quite believe it's all over. For the final part of the tour we visited Brighton, London and Nottingham and they were all equally great. Brighton was lovely as it's Anna's hometown and we stayed with her parents. My friends and family came to the London event so that was really exciting and then Nottingham was so relaxed and we loved the chilled vibe of that event. So we've now met around 300 of you whilst doing our little tour and I loved the whole experience! I really hope we do it again and visit some new places we haven't been before.

I wore two of my new purchases this week, the striped top is from COS and this navy Topshop top. I love them both but if you fancy them yourself be prepared for the Topshop top to come up HUGE... I bought it two sizes smaller than my usual size.

I'm only doing one show this London Fashion Week but I am SO excited for it. You'll hear all about it in my Tuesday video and then on Thursday you'll see my weekly vlog from the rest of our tour. Tomorrow's video is a monthly makeup routine, so I really hope you enjoy it.

Have a great weekend!

BARRY M SPRING SPEEDY PASTELS

Spring pastels! My fave!

Barry M always seem to get pastel nail polish so right, every time. Their Spring 2015 collection is no exception and this time round they've created a quick dry formula that speeds up the entire process. If, like me, you always use Seche Vite topcoat anyway then this formula won't make any difference to you but the colours in the collection are so pretty!

My favourite shades are Pit Stop which is the perfect grey, Road Rage which is baby blue perfection and Lap of Honour which is like a grown up version of Essie's Lilacism.

Each polish is £3.99 (bargain!!!) and is out now. Which one is your favourite?

MONTHLY MAKEUP ROUTINE: FEBRUARY

My January makeup routine was a little experiment to test the waters and you guys gave me some great feedback! So I decided to continue with the series and this month's routine is the one I wore throughout our Beauty Chat LIVE tour, plus something a little different for the lips.

I really enjoy just sitting in front of the camera, doing my makeup and chatting so I hope you like it too!

THE PRODUCTS YOU LOVE TOO!

You know that feeling you get when you watch a haul video? Curiosity, excitement, that bubbly feeling you get when you go on a shopping spree... well this is how Anna and I felt whilst looking through your #BeautyChatLIVE shopping baskets.

It was so nice chatting to you all and seeing how excited you all were to make your purchases and there was definitely a pattern amongst all the stores we visited. We saw the same products over and over, some of our all-time favourites! It was great to chat with other beauty enthusiasts and so for those of you who couldn't make it I wanted to talk you through some of the must-have products that you all wanted to buy!

Quite a few of you went straight for the Oribe Dry Texturising Spray, both the mini and full size (although a lot of you had to listen to my "the bigger can is better" speech - see this post). It really is the best quick fix for flat and lifeless hair.

I wore the By Terry Ombré Blackstar in Misty Rock for two of the events and Becky, the lovely makeup artist who travelled with us used them on so many lovely girls that she made up. It wasn't just Misty Rock that was popular though, lots of you were daring and went for the purple and green shades as well as the more neutral Bronze Moon. You won't regret it, I have a review coming up on these soon - they're incredible.

The base of choice was definitely NARS Sheer Glow whilst some of you with oilier skin types opted for the new NARS All day Luminous Weightless foundation. Sheer Glow was my foundation choice throughout the whole tour and it often came up as a recommendation during the beauty chats. It's still my favourite and I'm sure it always will be.

The star of the entire show was definitely the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel and it was a sellout every night. I'm not surprised, it's an incredible cleanser that we both highly recommend. Some of you with drier, more dehydrated skin were opting for the more nourishing Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm. It seems quite a lot of you would have really enjoyed removing your makeup after #BeautyChatLIVE.

We found it so funny how many of you told us about your "terrible" skin when we thought it looked flawless, but when many of you asked about hydration and moisturising we recommended Sarah Chapman. The Intense Hydrating Booster is a twice a day saviour adding  boost of hydration into the skin and the Overnight Facial for something a little more special in the evenings.

It was so exciting seeing so many of you try our favourite products so I really hope you all enjoyed your purchases. So if we had to put together our top picks from Space NK... I guess these would be top of the list!

CREASE-PROOF BUDGET SHADOW CRAYONS

As promised my By Terry Ombre Blackstar review is coming but until then I have a budget alternative that is a serious contender in the cream shadow game.

The Bourjois ColorBands are brand new and only recently launched this month. There are six shades in the collection, but I definitely have my four favourites. 01 is black, 06 is grey but let's forget about those for a moment (not my kinda thing) and focus on the four gorgeous shades in between.

02 is a traditional brown with a slight metallic, shimmer finish and 03 is a pretty light gold that goes really nicely with the brown. 04 is slightly more pink toned, with a rose gold feel and a pretty shine when it catches the light. The star of the show for me is shade number 05 Mauve Baroque as this one is a great dupe for By Terry's Misty Rock. It's a purple-ish taupe with silver shimmer running through which gives that wet lid effect that I love so much with Misty Rock.

The formula of these are great and you have a few seconds of blending time before they set in place and stay put. There was absolutely no creasing for me, although worth remembering that I don't have oily lids. I love the ease of the giant crayons although they will need sharpening which is a bit of a pain.

These shadow "& liners" as Bourjois like to put it are only £5.99 which is a complete bargain for the quality. I have a feeling 05 is going to be hard to get hold of but if you spot one in store, grab it!

Have you tried the Bourjois ColorBands yet?

BURBERRY BEAUTY AW15 TUTORIAL & BEHIND THE SCENES

So this weekend was pretty exciting for me... On Sunday I visited Burberry HQ to preview the AW15 Burberry beauty look a day before it was announced and then on Monday I went to the actual catwalk show!

It was amazing to meet Wendy Rowe and she even did a bit of makeup on me too! I talk about it more in the video above before I try to recreate the look myself. So how do you think I did?

BROADWAY MARKET, LONDON

Having grown up in London it amazes me that I can still discover new parts I haven't explored before. A couple of weekends ago, Anna and Mark took myself and Rich to Broadway Market which is East London just by the canal. It's not huge but it has two parts to it and the whole market is very foodie, which is just my kind of thing!

There are a few flower stalls as well as accessories and baby clothes but the amount of food on offer was overwhelming, in a good way. After spotting an amazing hot dog, some intense brownies and fudge we walked around the corner to the smaller school yard part of the market where we settled on pulled pork served in a bun with homemade pickles. We also tried out some fresh juices, although Mark's choice was so much better than ours - see this vlog

I loved the whole atmosphere of the market and I would definitely go back... I need to try that hot dog! So if you're ever stuck for ideas and you're in East London on a weekend, head over to Broadway Market for something a bit different and delicious!

Noticed something different here?

I'm so excited to finally be able to relaunch my website and show you all the new design. My good friend Jay and I have been working on the redesign for about 5 months now (because I'm a control freak), starting with a new logo and eventually redesigning the whole site. It was time for a much needed makeover as I wanted to make a better experience for those of you who are so supportive and read my blog daily.

As you saw on the homepage we've created a grid so you can browse more content and have a better overview of all my channels. A recent video will always show top left and in the grid you can find my Instagram photos, my most recent tweet, links to my Facebook page and a collection of my favourite products which I will regularly update. You'll also find a couple of new features here, a 'Request a Post' cell for those of you who want to get more involved. This will ping straight into my inbox so if you ever feel inspired or want to see something new on here, please do let me know! You can also enter in your email address for a possible newsletter. This is still a work in progress so if you are interested in a monthly newsletter feel free to request what you'd like to see on there too.

I hope that you have fun browsing and exploring the new site and of course, as always, any feedback is so helpful and I'd love to hear what you all think!

In case you missed it, my new video went up this morning. I hope you enjoy hearing about my February Favourites here. Thanks for your continued support and I hope you like the new site!

THE ALL-STAR OMBRE BLACKSTARS

IMG_81152

I've built up quite the collection of By Terry Ombre Blackstars and I haven't actually done a dedicated blog post about them! They're just one of those products that I can't stop buying and they have become staple products in my collection. I know that a lot of people have a problem with their £29 price tag and trust me, I hate to waste money so I wouldn't have gone back for more if I didn't think they were completely worth it! For those who like to spend less on makeup, I'd recommend the Bourjois shadow sticks from this post but today let's talk about these and why I think they're so kick ass.

The first one I picked up months ago was Brown Perfection which is one of the more matte formulas I have. As you can see from the swatches above, three are more matte and two are more shimmery. Brown Perfection (far right) is nice to use as a liner and is nice when it's really blended out on the lid, but it is quite dark so definitely one for those who like an intense smokey eye. Misty Rock (far left) came next and this is without a doubt my favourite from the bunch. It's a pinky/purple toned shadow with silver flecks that give a 'wet' look to the lid. It's versatile, can be worn under the eye as well as on the lid and always gets me lots of compliments!

Bronze Moon, Velvet Orchid and Midnight Forrest were all bought over the past few weeks as my obsession grew. I don't know why I waited so long to get Bronze Moon (worn in bottom photo), it's the perfect shimmery bronze for all over the lid. This is probably the easiest to wear and the most likeable from the shades I have. Velvet Orchid and Midnight Forrest (worn in top photo) are quite adventurous choices for me but I love the formula so much that I knew they'd be easy to work with. The slightly more matte formula makes them quite intense so I like to apply them close to the lash line and then blend out with a fluffy brush. Although technically they are a purple and green, they are very easy to wear and I think they really compliment my brown eyes.

So why do I love these so much? The packaging is so handy and easy to throw in your makeup bag. The quality of the shadow is insane... highly pigmented, easy to blend but sets in place and doesn't budge at all. The complex pigments in some of the shimmery shades are unlike anything else I've tried and means that you don't need to use multiple shadows to get a nice effect. It's a one shadow does all kinda thing!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwIm6rQXknc With all the excitement of the launch last night, my February favourites didn't get it's own blog post - and we wouldn't want to mess up the Monthly Favourites category now would we?! So if you missed it, here it is and if you've already seen it then thank you! I hope you like hearing about my favourite product from the month. Now I just need to buy more DHC Cotton Pads... I ran out today!

LE CHALET ON THE ROOF OF SELFRIDGES

IMG_75903

I vaguely remember there being a mini golf course on the roof of Selfridges once but it wasn't until I watched Mr Selfridge did I remember about the roof that I'd never visited! I had no idea what was up there until I found the secret lift (by the Chanel perfume counter) that takes you directly to the 5th floor.

When the lift doors opened I was greeted by wood logs, blankets, moose heads and a sign saying "Le Chalet On The Roof".

We booked in for tea at 4pm so it was scones and tea for us but I couldn't ignore the incredible smell of garlic that must have been the Tiger Prawns that I spotted on the lunch menu. The Cream Tea was perfect, expensive but worth it and they didn't mind us sharing two between four of us.

The whole atmosphere of the restaurant is magical with twinkle lights everywhere and blankets on the back of your seats if you fancy getting snugly. The restaurant is indoors though with a small section at the back outdoors and with heaters for those willing to brave the cold. There is an incredible view the roof though so it's worth going outside to check it out. The restaurant will shut for a few weeks in March to be prepped for Spring and I can imagine it being even better in the warmer months!

You can check out the menu here, I for one can't wait to go back for lunch and dinner. I want to try it all!

Relaunching my blog! // Weekly Vlog

Fashion shows, theatre shows, lunches and relaunches... so last week was pretty crazy! I filmed on Monday, Wednesday and Sunday and all the days in between were spent glued to my computer screen. Sunday night (as you all know) my blog relaunched with the new design and it was so exciting! I vlogged that evening whilst Jay and I skyped and drank champagne so I can watch it back in years to come. I hope you enjoy watching and joining in the excitement - thanks again for all your lovely feedback on the new site!

MAC x Cinderella

IMG_8151

IMG_8148 IMG_8149 IMG_8153 IMG_8151 I haven’t kept on top with MAC launches in a long time. I go through phases of knowing exactly what’s launching and being completely oblivious. Their new Cinderella collection caught my attention though as I always find their disney collaborations quite cute and fun. The star of the show and the ‘sellout’ product for me is the 6 shade eyeshadow palette. I love the clear lid and the size of the shadows but it’s the choice of shades that makes it such a nice palette. There are some big MAC names in there like Omega, Phloof!, Quarry and Satin Taupe. Vapour is quite a unique pale, duo-chrome highlight and Stroke of Midnight is in there for a bit sparkle. It’s quite an intense plum that will work nicely as a liner, it makes a nice change from black and keeps the theme of the palette still very wearable. The palette will cost £38.50 and will be available exclusively to Harrods from 6th March and hitting MAC counters from 13th March.

DISAPPOINTING PRODUCT PACKAGING

When I sat down on Monday to film I had a feeling it was gonna be a weird one... I came up with the idea of this video on a very tired train home from #BeautyChatLIVE and what seemed like a genius idea then, seems bizarre but kind of fun now. I thought I'd do it anyway, talk through some of my favourite products and what I would LOVE to change about their packaging. I'm a bit of a packaging geek so thinking of cool ways to make products more user friendly is something I love. Let me know which product packaging drives you mad and what you'd love to change about it?

IMG_7684

IMG_7684 I spent almost two days in Paris this week with Anna. We were so lucky to be taken by Chanel for the launch of their new Coco Rouge lipsticks that are coming out next week. I’ll be posting a photo diary of the trip as well as a full review of the lipsticks (spoiler, I can’t stop wearing Adrienne!). The street style in Paris always amazes me and even just two days has inspired me to revamp my wardrobe for spring. I tend to stop buying winter clothes by christmas time and then there’s a few months where I just have to wait out for spring. But it’s coming, I can feel it and I can’t wait to add some essential items to my wardrobe. So what’s on my list? Some trousers that aren’t black skinny jeans, some flat shoes, that gorgeous suede jacket from Topshop and accessories! Thank you to those of you that have been requesting posts via my new homepage. I’ve really enjoyed reading them all and flagging the ones I can do. Keep ‘em coming! I did an interview with my good friend Jay who was the designer of my new site. It was such a fun interview and I love the finished post, so go have a read here if you want to hear about how we collaborated on the site. Have a great weekend and look out for my ‘teaser’ video tonight on my Facebook page. I think you’re going to enjoy tomorrow’s video!

NAILS INC ALEXA EDIT

IMG_7700

IMG_7700Now we all know about my love for Essie Maximillian Strausse Her, but this Nails Inc polish very much falls into the same category and I'm having a bit of a love affair with it. Nails Inc Alexa Winter Lilac came in the Alexa Edit collection and it is the most beautiful, soft blue-y lilac. I wouldn't actually say it was lilac, but more of a grey/blue mix. I can't get enough of this polish and the fact it comes in the new snazzy Nails Inc packaging makes it that much better. There's not much else to say, but I really hope this becomes a permanent colour. The Alexa Edit comes with 6 polishes, two of which are incredible one of a kind topcoats - one with stars and one with hearts. So here's the big question. Which do you prefer, this or Maximillian Strausse Her?

A HUNGRY GIRL’S GUIDE TO LONDON

Screen Shot 2015-03-02 at 20.02.08

I'm a born and bred Londoner so naturally I get a lot of questions about where to shop and where to eat. I've been meaning to do a video for quite some time but London is huge and I'm forever discovering new places and areas. It's hard to put it all into one video but I've tried to work through some key areas and recommend my favourite shops, galleries and restaurants along the way. For all the info mentioned in this video, click to see the video on YouTube and check the (very detailed) description box. I hope this video helps with any future trips to London!

A VISIT TO COCO CHANEL’S APARTMENT

But not everyone knows the history and it's something I've always been interested in. I've read the books, watched the films and last week I was lucky enough to have a tour of Coco Chanel's actual apartment. It's invite only and not many people get to experience it so I soaked up every minute as we walked around and listened to all the stories. It wasn't at all as I expected, there were huge wooden partitions, trinkets everywhere and hundreds of books lined up on the wall. Everything with Chanel has a meaning and it was so interesting spotting signs of inspirations all over her apartment that led Coco to create some of her most iconic designs. We were really allowed to make ourselves at home, we sat on her sofa, at her dining table but not on her bed as there wasn't one. She actually slept across the road at the Ritz Hotel, right until the very end. We had a bit of time to enjoy in Paris too. It was my second visit at Hotel Costes and the food (and shoe string fries) were just as incredible as I remembered! If you ever get the chance to visit, have the Yellow Tail - delicious! We visited Colette, a shop I absolutely loved and walked along the river to the lover's bridge. Just before heading home we ate lunch at one of my favourite spots in Paris, Cafe Marly. I'm looking forward to telling you all about the new Chanel lipsticks, especially now I know the stories behind the names of the people Coco loved so dearly. Keep and eye out for that post and if you have any Paris recommendations for my next trip, please leave me a comment!

STUDENT BUDGET DAILY FACE

0
0

IMG_8193

IMG_8193 IMG_8162 IMG_8164As tempting as it is to spend all of your left over student loan money in Space NK, it's probably not the best idea and not really necessary either! We're lucky in the UK to have such amazing brands on offer for such affordable prices so today's post is a look at what my student face would look like if were to go back in time. I've been loving the Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation as a quick, light enhancing, medium coverage foundation. I buff it into the skin and then apply concealer just where I need it. The Kiko Natural Concealer is very similar to the NARS Creamy Radiant Concealer with maybe a bit more coverage. You get a very small amount of product but it's very affordable. I'm still enjoying the Bourjois Healthy Balance powder because although it says it's matte, I find it to be very lightweight and doesn't give a powdery finish to the skin. You all know by now about my obsession with the Soap & Glory Solar Powder, I use it for both a natural day look and a more contoured evening look. The Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Lovely Pink works as a blush and a highlight, just adding light and a flush of colour where you need it. If you need to fill in your brows the Soap & Glory Archery is a great dupe for the Anastasia Brow Wiz. It has a small brush on one end and a fine wax pencil on the other. For my eyes I have been loving the Bourjois ColourBand cream eyeshadow sticks. I've mixed 03 which is a shimmery beige and 02 which is a deeper brown. They blend nicely together and I took the brown underneath the eye as well. The Max Factor Excess Intensity eyeliners are great because they're like a gel formula in an easy to use pencil form. The pigment is intense so I applied a small amount to the other lass line and blended slightly with a small brush. I tried out a new mascara for this look, well new to me! It's the Rimmel Extra 3D Lash and I actually really liked it! The brush is plastic and really grips the lashes making it easier to get length. I finished up with the Tanya Burr Lip Gloss in Sparkling Dewdrops which is a pretty, glossy pink. It's a very simple look using some of my favourite 'drugstore' products. So what do you think?   This post was requested by Amy Watts. If you'd like to request a post, please submit your idea here
